Three types of new benefits are now available:
- Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB) – available for people who are unable to work or whose incomes are reduced because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB) – available for individuals who are primary caregivers and are unable to work because of Covid-19 and they have to care for children or other dependents.
- Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB) – available to individuals who are unable to work because of illness or self-isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Amount of the Benefits
- CRB: The benefit amount of the CRB is $500 per week for up to 26 weeks. This is a benefit of $2,000 per month. Eligible individuals can receive a total of $13,000 between September 27, 2020 and September 25, 2021.
- CRCB: The benefit amount of the CRCB is $500 per week for up to 26 weeks for a potential benefit of $2,000 per month. Tax of $50 is withheld at source and you will receive $450 for each 1 week period.
- CRSB: You receive a benefit amount of $500 per week for up to 2 weeks for a potential benefit of $1,000 per month. Tax of $50 is withheld at source and you will receive $450 each week.
