Dear ADTO Member,
Congratulations for being a member of the RDT profession and the Association of Dental Technologists of Ontario (ADTO). You are currently engaged in a time where the profession is entering into a new era. With this change, there is also a SH!FT in the direction of what an RDT is … and how the RDT does its job. With the ever so changing technology, materials, changes in the forms of communication, we need to update in our form of thinking and learn how to adapt our businesses to this change. As you already know, the state of our industry is leading to a steady decline of dental technologists due to many reasons. One of the main reasons for this decline is the price war that we have inherited from our predecessors.
While you are working on your cases and concentrate on building your skillset, the ADTO is diligently looking at the whole picture. By doing so we recognize where the issues have been and you will have seen many changes happening within the association over the past year. It is the main reason we have decided on this 1-day event for YOU - our membership.
We are tired of hearing comments like “oh boy, what are you doing for us as our association, it’s a race to the bottom”. I would like for the future of our profession to be a race to the top where we should be seen as an elite status profession, a profession that looks forward, one where we take a leap, a change, a SH!FT towards the future of where the RDT is a key individual in the oral health team. Let’s re-focus and unite for this to happen.
Keep in mind that this ADTO SH!FT event is solely focused on you, it should be a mandatory event for attendance in your calendar. If you choose not to attend this event, then you should ask yourself what do you want from this profession. If you can’t take the time to attend in a time of change then where will you be when the change happens? If you choose not to support your profession, then there cannot be an expectation that other dental professionals will support it for you – the SHI!FT starts with you.
You will already have received several emails with save the dates for this event. It will be one not to be missed. Part of the day will include the Annual General Meeting (AGM), please review the financials in advance of the meeting and come prepared to participate.
